What’s going down at the Steakhouse Good Friday is not far away & the traditional “Seafood Extravaganza” continues with 2 sized platters available for pre-ordering. This year we have included battered barra, and Moreton Bay bugs along with the fresh Australian prawns, Natural oysters, and salt & pepper squid. $44 for one person & $72 for two to share. But don’t miss out, this night is quick to sell out!

With the cold weather about to arrive, the Steakhouse has their beautiful lounge area around the fireplace, perfect for enjoying a few drinks before dinner, or sipping port & coffee leisurely after your meal. Amid the relaxed atmosphere is the opportunity to just pop in for a drink or two with friends and share some nibblies in the lounge bar. The bar has an extensive range of cocktails as well as local wines and brews a great local coffee.

And don’t forget about the Sunday BIG Buffet brekkie every week from 7:30am to 9am, the perfect way to start the day. Such yummys as bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, buttered mushrooms, fried tomatoes with cheese on top, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea & coffee & juice. The coffee machine is available & we also cater for gluten free & dairy free requests. Just let us know when you book your table (preferably 24 hours notice if possible). Only $20 per adults & kids are just $1 per year of age. Phone 4681 1533 today to book your table!

December 2015

Wow, what an incredible year it has been!  We want to thank everyone who has supported the Steakhouse over the year.  This is our 5th year at the High Street Motor Inn & Aussie Beef Steakhouse and it is surprising how much the business changes with each year that passes.  We want to take this opportunity to thank all who have made this possible.  To our staff…  Some have been here longer than us!
Our restaurant manager, Lynda, for being the caring & efficient person that you are – Thank-you!!  Our chef’s  David & Damo, for your hard work, sense of humours & dedication to our vision for the Steakhouse.  For all our casual staff:  Masa, Lesley, Julicia, Mel, Ali, Dylan, Kirralee,  & Amanda.  Thank-you for your flexibility, your happy smiles and for your enthusiasm.  To Vicki, our house-keeper/relief manager, we would be lost without you!  And to all our suppliers, wineries, other motels & businesses,  Thank-you for your assistance and support!  And finally & most importantly, to the town people of Stanthorpe.
We are so thankful that we found this little town to raise our little family.  The people are what really make it!  So friendly, helpful & caring!  For all the support, we got when we had no motel and for all our beautiful customers that come time & again.  Thank-you.  It reminds us that we must be doing more than a couple of things right!  And for all those people who take their first tentative steps into our restaurant & find more than they expected!  Thank-you!  Feel free to take another visit to our doors & bring your friends! We wish you a Merry Christmas, and the very best wishes for 2016.
From Shannon & Shaun, Aiden & Georgie, the extended Cox family and all our awesome staff.

What’s going down at the Steakhouse in May

There is a chill in the air and that first frost is just around the corner, perfect for enjoying a local glass of wine by the fire, before or after your dinner at the Steakhouse. The log fire has proven to be very popular with locals and tourists alike, and the kids corner with the DVD’s and colouring in books is keeping the younger ones entertained so mum and dad can relax.

This month also sees the introduction of the new Autumn/Winter menu & includes all those winter favourites plus a couple of twists with a few new dishes.  For something new why not try the:

  • TENDER BEEF & PORK RAGU tossed through a house made gnocchi which is pan-fried & finished with fresh parmesan cheese
  • HOT BUTTERED WHISKY with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar, butter & cream
  • APPLE & PEAR CRUMBLE topped with coconut & oat crumble, served with fresh cream & rhubarb coulis. Suitable for 2 to share…. if you are willing!

Also with the colder weather, the Sunday Big Breakfast is getting busier so book ahead for a seat.  For you coffee lovers, they always make sure there is either perculated local coffee or the cappucino machine is on, & there is enough to tempt everyone with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, cereal, toast, fresh local fruit, gourmet yoghurt and herbal teas.  They also have soy milk and gluten free bread on hand as required.  Make sure you book your table & mention any special dietary requirements.

Their VIP club is growing in size and remember VIP’s get dinner on the house on their Birthday.   MAY Special:  Free dessert when purchasing a main meal per VIP member.  To join up just pop onto their website or facebook page, or feel free to organise on your next visit.

Mother’s Day is soon and it always gets very busy, so don’t forget to book your table for brunch.  Full details can be found below and on their website.  Numbers are limited so give them a bell quickly to secure your spot.

Where will you be this New Years Eve?

Why not join the Steakhouse this year for a rip roaring 1920’s gangster murder mystery dinner. The evening consists of a three course dinner, with a tasty tapa’s plate to start off with, your choice of our signature Reef & Beef with our black angus steak, or their seafood platter with Salt & Pepper Squid, Prawns, Oysters & Beer Battered fish or for something new, why not try their chicken breast filled with pistacio stuffing and wrapped in prosciutto. The perfect way to end the meal is with a sampling dish of desserts to share or have all to yourself. All this yummy food together with lots of murder, bribery and back stabbing. Guests will include gangsters, politicians, singers and gamblers – so come dressed up in your favourite ‘flapper’ garb! Tickets are only $65 per person but make sure you get in quick as they are limited to only 50 spots.

Tis the season
